Make a special breakfast for your Valentine featuring Nueske's Bacon!
Ingredients
- 6 Slices pre-cooked Nueske’s Smoked Applewood Bacon
- 6 Large Slices White Bread
- 6 Large Eggs
- Melted Butter or Vegetable Oil
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
Method
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly coat heart-shaped baking tins or silicone pans with non-stick vegetable spray.
- Use a large heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out six heart shapes from the bread. Then, use a rolling pin to flatten the bread hearts.
- Line the prepared heart-shaped pans with the bread, gently pressing it into the molds. If needed, fill any gaps with small pieces of bread to ensure the pans are completely lined. Brush the bread with melted butter or oil.
- Crack each egg into a custard cup or small bowl then gently pour it into the bread-lined pans. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake the egg toasts for 15 to 20 minutes, adjusting the time based on your preference—less time for a runny yolk, more time for a firmer yolk.
- Remove from the oven and let the toasts cool for a minute or two. Carefully take the toasts out of the pans. Make a small horizontal slit into the bottom portion of each heart and slide a piece of bacon into the middle to resemble an arrow piercing the heart. Serve with additional bacon.
